The weather was well and truly turned on for us all on Saturday. It was a stunning day.

With record numbers, a fantastic location at Seaworks, some of the best craft brewers in the country and great entertainment, this years event was truly AWESOME. We had such a great time on the day. Bringing months of preparation which evolved into an enjoyable day by all.

It was great to have the different types of entertainment which was well received. There was a lot of great comments on Uptown Brown, Andy Zap, Jordy Doust and of course Dave Larkin of Dallas Crane. Last years favourites Moosejaw Rifle Club closed out the day in true Moosejaw fashion.

I have a heap of photos which i will update to our GALLERY page in the coming days. If you have any great shots that you would like added to the page we would love to have them – willybeerfest@gmail.com

We would love to hear any feedback that you have about the day. All comments are welcome. Its our way to find out how we can bring you a better event next time around.

A big congratulations to our winning pic from our #willybeerfest2014 competition. REBONKA352                     has been chosen as the winner.

I’m sure you will agree what a great shot!!

We have a few lost property items from the weekend. These can be collected from the Steam Packet Hotel, 13 Cole Street, Williamstown. If you wanted to call The Packet on 9399 9600 and they can check if your item is there prior to heading down.

This year is flying by and we are only a few days away from our big day!

Tickets are moving along and we are expecting to double our crowd from last year. Please share with your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram friends as we don’t want them to miss out on what is going to be a great day!

The festival beer that the girls from Two Birds Brewing made for us is back for 2014!!! We have “tweaked” the recipe slightly but will have the same base as last year with a few more hops. There is still some local ingredients to give it the special Williamstown flavour. Head to the Two Birds Facebook page for some details.

I will be out and about later in the week giving away some merchandise and also some hotly contested free tickets. Keep your eyes and ears on our Twitter and Facebook pages for the details of where I will be during the week. Glenn and Bec were the recipients of our last giveaway on Sunday and last Friday we had people lining up for the FREEBIES at BRIXTON POUND WILLIAMSTOWN.

The gods seem to be on our side for this year (hope i don’t speak to soon). There is a forecast temperature of around 28oC for the day. Pretty much perfect weather for an outdoor event. Like last year we will have plenty of screen onsite. So pack a hat, grab some friends and sit back and enjoy the day.

For those looking to catch public transport, Metro trains have trains running from Southern Cross every 20mins. From there catch the Werribee line to Newport, from there you will need to change to the Williamstown line. The last station on that line is Williamstown. Once out of the station, take a right turn (there will be signs pointing the way) and head about 5oom to Nelson Place. Seaworks is just on the right hand side. There are frequent buses that head past Seaworks as well. For an up to date schedule and to plan your journey, head to the Public Transport Victoria website.

If you are in the city, you may want to think about catching the ferry from Southbank. With the great weather planned it would be a great trip up the Yarra and a very unique way to get down to the Festival. For details click here.

Doors open at 12 pm and we will go through until 7pm.

We have some great food available on the day. We have –Mr Burger, – Nuoc Mama, –Just Toasted, –Wood Fired Pizza, –Healthy Snaggas, –Bretzel Biz. A large variety of quality trucks and stalls, which will no doubt please all tastes.

There is metered parking along Nelson Place out the front of Seaworks. There is additional parking on Ann Street just past Seaworks and some in surrounding streets. Please be aware that parking restrictions can apply in some of these side streets.

We will have allocated an Smoking Area at the rear of the site. The main building and the outdoor “grassed area” are all smoke free.

Here is a sneak preview of the site map/layout for the day from the official program.

  • We are very pleased to announce that the guys from Golden Axe Cider are producing a brand new cider for this years Festival.

This will be exclusively made and poured for us at the event, with the hope that then hit the trade after that.

Chief Boss at Golden Axe Callum Reeves says “the cider continues to bubble away nicely. It’s a little darker than our regular lines. It is the first new cider from our range in over two years. We are excited to see how it turns out”.

The style will be in the farmhouse style of cider with some “Malo-fermentation”, anyway it turns out you know it will be a great product to sit along side their range of Golden Axe Cider and Kaiju! beers. Can’t wait to try it.

Remember this cider will EXCLUSIVELY be available at the Williamstown Heritage Beer and Cider Festival. Tickets available by clicking the link above.

The Willy Beer Fest is here!!!

Two Birds Brewing and the Willy Beer Festival has finally completed the exclusive festival brew! It is a take on what a beer in the 1860s at the Steam Packet would have looked like – slightly opaque with a nice deep golden, not quite amber, colour. It’s an easy style pale ale brewed with Willamette and Citra hops. We have also used local sheoak and river mint plants in the process to give it complexity and a unique character. The name is under wraps at the moment, but we have a few working titles based around local historical events, local landmarks, ships and fauna.

It is now pouring at the Steam Packet Hotel in Cole Street Williamstown and will also be pouring at several venues in and around Williamstown. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for details

The buzz is under way.

The Willy Beer Festival is FRONT PAGE news in all the local papers!!! If you haven’t seen the articles follow these links.

The very well respected beer and brewing website the Crafty Pint has written a follow up article on the festival. They are running a competiton giving away a double pass to the festival. To find out more head to their website

The article can be viewed here. craftypint.com/news/post/willy-fest-takes-shape/
